Nathaniel Darden

Nathaniel “BoBo” Darden of Taylor, Texas, passed on Wednesday morning, February 1, 2023, surrounded by his wife, family, and friends. BoBo was born to the late Nathaniel Blue and Ora Lee Darden on July 16, 1958, in Taylor, Texas. BoBo grew up in the small town of Granger, Texas. He attended the public schools of the district and graduated.  He played with many small league baseball teams and became known for his talent.

While there were so many things BoBo enjoyed in life, his real passions were his Faith, his family, his job, and the Dallas Cowboys. Let the fact be known, he was the team biggest fan, if you ever needed to know a stat or information on a player, he was your guy to call, whether they lost or took the ‘W’, he was for the Cowboys. BoBo was more than a casual fan.

BoBo was a God-fearing, outspoken man, who loved his family. He would light up a room just by smiling and telling a joke or two.  He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and spoiling grandbabies and there were no boundaries for the great grands. He worked for and retired from Waste Management after thirty plus years.

Nathaniel’s earthly life and journey was finished at the age of 64. God called him to become a doorkeeper at the Pearly Gates and he will be joining his parents, Nathaniel, and Ore Lee.

Mr. Nathaniel Darden leaves in God’s hands to cherish his memories: his devoted wife, Ruby Johnson-Darden, four children, Elizabeth (Reginald), Kevin (Gabriella) Lamar (Olivia), LaKesha (James); ten grandchildren, Ashley, Kiera, Courtney, Cordez, Mirakle, Aliana, Kevin Jr., Kameron, Kadence and Trenton; three great-grandchildren: Amare, Ashton and Avry; two sisters: Vera (Taylor) and Florence (Austin); two special aunties: Ernestine Young of Ft. Worth and Essie Wilson of Killeen; and a handful of nieces, nephews and cousins with a host of other relatives and friends.

Serving with Grace and Honor as casket bearers are Leroy Anderson, Cordez Maddox, Gerald Anderson, Alijah Scott, Curtis Fields, and Jerry Maddox.

Nathaniel Darden will lie In-State at the First Baptist Church of Taylor on Saturday, February 11th from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.  A Home-Going Celebration will begin at 2:00 PM with Reverend Dr. Anthony Watson presiding.  Interment will follow at Taylor City Cemetery.
