William Jaecks

November 4, 1934 — March 13, 2015

William "Billy" Jaecks was born on November 4, 1934 in Elgin, Texas, the only son to Richard Jaecks and Zera Gardener Jaecks. Billy was called home to serve the Lord on March 13, 2015, at the age of 80. Billy grew up in the Elgin-Butler Brickyard and after graduating from Elgin High School, he went to work at the Brickyard for many years. After leaving the Brickyard, Billy went on to work for Wayne-Bull, then to TXDOT as a traffic surveyor, and finally he retired from the Austin State School in 1998 after many years of loyal service. Billy converted to the Catholic faith on July 10, 1982, receiving his Baptism, Holy Communion, and Confirmation from Father Rosendo Rafael of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Billy was so proud of his Catholic faith and continued to serve at the church and also volunteered as a WATCH.D.O.G at his granddaughter"s school until he was reunited with his heavenly Father. Billy made many friends during his time here while attending church and of course on his many walks through town. His snazzy walk was unforgettable and you could spot him a mile away in his orange hat. Billy had lots of good stories to tell and a smile that would warm your heart. Billy is survived by his wife, Marina Jaecks; his daughter, Julie Grijalva, son-in-law Jose Grijalva, and their son Michael; his daughter, Jennifer Lawhon, son-in-law Matthew Lawhon, and their daughter Madissen; & his daughter Melanie Bradford. We will all miss Daddy very much. There was no better Daddy in the world. Elgin will not be the same. Now Billy can walk wherever and how ever long he wants with the Lord.In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will receive guests at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Elgin from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, March 19th and will pray the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM.
