Vincent Quiroz

April 18, 1959 — July 1, 2019

Vincent “Red Dog” Quiroz was, one of six children, born to David Quiroz Sr. and Carmen R. Quiroz, in Austin, Texas on April 18th, 1959.  Vincent was called to his Heavenly Home on Monday, July 1st, 2019 and was preceded in death by his brother Edward Quiroz.

Vincent lived most of his life in Austin, with some time lived in Wisconsin. He worked many hours as a truck driver; making runs in his hometown or long hauls across the country.  It was during this time, he picked up the handle “Red Dog.”  You could always hear him saying, “breaker, breaker, over out, ‘Red Dog.’”   Vincent loved the road, he enjoyed traveling interstate and loved traversing the plains and hills of the United States; those highways and byways he knew so well!

Vincent is survived by his love of 19 years, Estela Elizondo. Although they had no children together, he embraced her children as his own. Together they cared and loved their grandchildren, with Xavier and Natalie holding a special place in his heart.

Vincent leaves behind brother, David Quiroz Jr. of Austin, TX.; sister, Linda Q. and husband Arcadio Hidrogo Sr. of Lake Villa, IL.; sister, Connie Q. and husband Ruben Villanueva of Del Valle, TX.; sister, Sophie Q. and husband Daniel Guerrero Sr. of Austin, TX; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

We remember our beloved Vincent as a boisterous, sometimes stubborn, always humorous bear of a man, whose presence was immediately known upon entering a room. His love for sports and anything “Dallas Cowboys” related was apparent when speaking with him. Vincent loved to reminisce about days gone by and could talk for hours about “remember when...”  Always cracking a joke, always making us laugh.  We will miss you Vincent! Forever in our hearts. Until we see each other again, we love you Vincent. “Over and out, Red Dog”
