Theodore Peters

Theodore Scott Peters, 59, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 at his home in Elgin, Texas. Scott was born in Beaufort, South Carolina on October 6, 1953, to Theodore and Marilyn Peters. He grew up in Cottage Grove, Minnesota and graduated from Park High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served four years. After his service in the US Navy he began as one of the first production employees at St. Jude Medical in Minnesota. Scott spent his professional career working in the field of mechanical heart valves, where he was recognized as a global authority and expert in mechanical heart valves. In 1980, he took a job with Carbomedics in Austin, TX, and raised his family. He would ultimately be a key contributor in the founding of three other valve companies in the Austin area. Those experiences led him to Hannover, Germany to establish MCRID, a subsidiary of MCRI Austin. He remained in Germany for 13 years before returning to Texas. Scott spent his life working with various companies on the cutting edge of heart valve research, he holds numerous patents, and is considered an expert in turning ideas into reality for the cardiac surgeons. He was also an active supporter of military veterans, and often volunteered helping soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Silke.Survived by his both his parents, Theodore and Marilyn Peters of Cottage Grove, MN his two daughters, Katie Peters of Minneapolis, MN and Sara Peters of Coon Rapids, MN five brothers Chuck, Eric, Jay, Doug, and Andrew and many nieces and nephews.Services are pending for a later date.
