Sue Snowden

Sue Ellen Sandifer Snowden32028 122313Sue Ellen passed away peacefully on December 23, 2013, surrounded by her loved ones at Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she had resided for over five years.Sue was born on March 20, 1928 in Blue, Texas, along with her twin brother George, to Chester A. and Ethel Louise Sandifer. She moved to Elgin, Texas as a teenager and started working as a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell, where she was employed for ten years. It was there that she met her future husband, John Henry Snowden. John fell in love with Sue over the telephone and made her his wife on June 11, 1946. To this union was born four children, Donna, John Darrell Donnas twin, survived for one day, Sharon, and Keith. Sue had an adventurous spirit, a deep love for her family, and a passion for learning new things.Preceding her in death are her son, John Darrell Snowden two grandsons, Nathan Stivers and Adam Mulder and four brothers, Wayne Lawrence, Jack Sandifer, Nolan Sandifer, and George Sandifer.Sue is survived by her husband of 67 years, John Henry Snowden her children, Donna Sue Jordan Joe of Elgin, Sharon Lynn Hacker Leonard of Bartlett, and Keith George Snowden Melissa of Elgin her sister, Tracie Poche of Georgetown 11 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
