Sherry Parker

On October 18th, Sherry Eileen Parker reeled in her pole and by Grace was called home after a hard fight with ovarian cancer.

She leaves behind her husband, her biggest catch and cherished fishing partner of 48 years, Roy Lynn Parker. Her daughters, Kerri husband Michael McFarland and Lana and husband Melvin Rooch; her granddaughters “her Sunshines” Nicole, Cheyenne, and Pauline Rooch, Rebecca, Lindsey and Samantha McFarland; her great-granddaughter, Trinity; her sisters, Cissy and husband Rog and Paula Turner; her niece/daughter, Amanda and husband Chris Dillard; nephew/grandson, Charlie. And numerous nieces, nephews, and dear family and friends, whom were like brothers and sisters at various times of her life since she was number eleven of twelve children.

She was a fighter, honest (to the core) and steadfast in her love and protector of those she cared for. Her and Daddy married in 1971 and would be celebrating their 49th anniversary this December. She attended Cosmetology school and loved seeing clients in the salon or her home for many years in Elgin. If only the cans of Aqua Net and boxes of hairpins pins could talk… After moving to Bastrop, she went to work for the IRS in the mid-80’s where she retired in 2014 with the expectations of traveling and fishing along the Texas coastline with Roy Lynn, reliving years of family vacations hauling an RV and boat. Some of their favorite times were riding up and down the Colorado River together in the mornings, enjoying each other.

The fish fry in heaven will be a reunion of many loved ones, her parents John and Pauline Turner, in-laws Roy and Evelyn Parker, brothers John Jr, Gene and Bo Turner, sisters Betty Jean Turner, Booboo Kissman, Mayzell Banta, Mertise Sewell, Patricia Evans, and Frankie Wallace, sister-n-laws Mary Allison and LouAnn Turner.

Regardless of when you last talked to or saw her, she was thinking of and loving you. God watched over her and with her, continues to watch over all of us knowing that when its time, we will be together again.

The family would like to extend an invitation to come celebrate Sherry’s Life, under the Pavilion at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Friday, October 23rd from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.  Please dress comfortability, while we visit with family and friends in remembrance of her.
