“A Time to Be Born”
On the day of January 22, 1997, in Austin, Texas, Sray Wicks and Starleigh Wilson were blessed with their first child, Daddy’s beautiful little Princess and Mom’s sweet Angel. This gift from God was given the name, Shanice Onitha Wilson-Wicks. She grew up in the communities of Elgin, Manor and Pflugerville attending the public schools and graduated in 2019 from Henderson High School in Pflugerville, Texas. Encouraging her family…’I did it, you can too’. Shanice was baptized at of age of three by Reverend Damon Blakely at Mount Pleasant AME Church in Elgin.
“A Time To Play and Work”
Shanice was a busy body; she enjoyed life and loved her family and friends, never meeting a stranger. Shanice learned to write with her mouth and move about in her wheelchair being in control of her whereabouts. She loved going and traveling – visiting Disney World four times and going to concerts. Her favorite was when she had the opportunity to meet Justin Bieber in person. Shanice was a volunteer for Dell Children’s Medical Center and was a model for the Dell Children’s Trach Center. She enjoyed working on the Funding Raising team especially when the money was going to St. Jude. With a second set of hands from her sister, Shanice would cook and like baking lemon cookies for they were her Mom’s favorite.
“A Time To Die”
Shanice’s earthly life journey ended on Sunday, March 15, 2020. Shanice is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Ernest and Billie Vincent, fraternal grandfather, David Hendricks, Papa, Ronnie Wilson, Sr.; other Grands includes: Jackie Mackey, Sonny Mackey, Farris Hunter, one uncle, Ernest Vincent, Jr., and one aunt, Denise Wicks.
“A Time To Celebrate”
Shanice was blessed with twenty-three years and she leaves in God’s hands to cherish her short legacy, are her parents, Sray Wicks and Starleigh Wilson-Wicks, her siblings, Jasmine Crayton, Chris Crayton, Jr., Jominron Crayton, Elijah Wicks, Shadia Wicks, and Sraya Wicks, her stepfather, Christopher Crayton; her grandparents, Pamela Wilson, Beverly Wicks, Raymond Wicks and his wife, Kimberly; her uncles, Shannon Wicks, Chaves Toussaint, Donnie Brown, Jeremy Smith, Michael Clavert, Ronnie Wilson, Jr., Bernard Wilson, her aunts, Ashlyn Seals, Cassandra Washington, Jasmine Wicks, Shonta Wicks, and Camille Wicks, and a host of other relatives and friends, including her nurses (caregivers) Tracey Stanley, Beverly Leonard and Oscar and Carroll Artigas.
Remember: Be strong, Main thing….DON’T PANIC!!!
