Samuel Mayandrew Richard Burse, Jr., ended his earthly journey, surrounded by his family and friends, on Monday, September 7, 2015. Samuel was born on December 18, 1989, in Austin, Texas to Samuel Burse, Sr. and Kaylan Roberson Burse. He attended schools in Elgin and graduated from Elgin High School in 2008, where he was a member of the Fighting Wild Cats. After graduation, Sam attended the Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At an early age, Lil Sam accepted Christ into his life, and attended church with his family at the Freedom Home Missionary Baptist Church in Austin. On October 29, 2009, Sam received a jewel from God, his little girl, Aijah Burse - she became the joy of his life. Sam had a passion for riding horses, fishing, attending car races, playing volleyball, and camping with the family on special occasions. He worked at his brother"s business, JLR Transport and Storage, as a driver.Sam is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Evangelist Vernell Roberson; paternal grandfather, Leroy Burse; and uncle, Tommy "TG" Houston. Sam was blessed with twenty-five years and leaves, in God"s hands to cherish his memory, his only child, Aijah Burse; both his parents, Samuel, Sr. and Kaylan Burse; his two brothers, Jermaine Roberson and wife, Danecia and Milton Burse; niece, Jaylan Roberson; nephew, Jermaine Roberson, Jr.; paternal grandmother, Mural Wright; maternal grandfather, Milton Roberson, Jr.; special brothers, Lawrence Clark, Cory Jones, Jerrel Hewitt, and Sherman Plummer; his uncles and aunts, Arthur and husband, Luis Hernandez; Andrearia and husband, Michael Reese, Milton Roberson, Kirby Roberson and wife, LaBarbera, Birthella Renay Roberson, Bobby Roberson, Sr., and Willie Roberson; great-uncles and great-aunts; numerous cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends, including the Cowboy Riding friends. Sam also leaves his special friend, Lacresha Jackson. Sam was known as a strong, loving young man, one who enjoyed life and loved people especially his family. All that knew him will always remember his joy and spirit. The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Wake at 7:00 PM Friday, September 18th. A Home-Going Celebration will be conducted at the Family Worship Center at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 19th with the Reverends Oscar B. Howard and Byron Green officiating. A funeral cortege with caisson will escort Samuel to his final place of rest at the Elgin Latin Cemetery.
