“A Time to Be Born”
Sammie Ray Griffin, Jr. was born on November 17, 1985, to Sammie Ray Griffin, Sr. and Madelyn Ross Hamilton in Taylor, Texas. This little bundle of joy was a Junior and often called “Little Sammie”, but the name that he was given by his family was “Poochie”.
“A Time to Plant”
Sammie Ray attended the public schools in the Texas Independent School Districts. He graduated from Akins High School in 2005. Sammie grew up in life and wisdom, doing some odd jobs and working in many fields, experiencing the challenge of working and getting paid. His field of choice was helping others – Handyman. Sammie enjoyed the sports of football and basketball.
“A Time to Play and Work”
Sammie loved his family and enjoyed being around them, often spoiling his neices and nephews. He surrounded himself with fun, love and continuous laughter. His favorite pastime was listening to his music, dancing, wearing his boots and rubbing on his dog, Savage . He was a happy person that will be truly missed. Sammie enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.
“A Time to Die”
Sammie Ray Griffin, Jr., suddenly departed this life at the age of 37, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. He will join his mother, Madelyn “Mrs. Dorothy” Hamilton Gadison, and his two brothers, Charles Gadison, Jr., and Bennie Gadison.
“A Time to Weep”
Sammie was a loving young man, a good son, a brother’s keeper, and a favorite uncle. He leaves in God’s hands to cherish his memories, his father, Sammie Ray Griffin, Sr. and his wife, Caretia; his siblings, Dorothy Thomas, Clifton Gadison, Pearlie Gadison, Annie Gadison, Melvin Gadison, Goldie Gadison, Vivian Gadison, Aaron Gadison, Commie Gadison, Chantae Patterson, and Regina Hamilton; fifty-two nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; uncles and aunts; and a large number of cousins, a host of other relatives and friends.
I am young but strong enough to withstand anything that comes my way, I’m old enough to stretch forth my hands to the creator and cry – Lord, here am I…
Sammie will lie in state at Elgin Funeral Home, Friday, October 6th from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. A Home-Going Celebration will be conducted at Elgin Funeral Home, Friday, October 6th at 1:00 PM with Elder Elmo Griffin presiding. Interment will follow at Taylor City Cemetery.
