Ruthie Gibson

On August 12, 1949 Ruthie Mae Simmons was the 9th child born to the Late Joseph Simmons and Hester Riggins Simmons at Fleming Memorial Hospital in Elgin, Texas. She attended Booker T. Washington School. Ruthie accepted Christ at Pleasant Bethany Baptist Church and attended until God called her home.
During her lifetime she worked for Travis State School and Home Health for Elders. Ruthie was united in Holy Matrimony to Arthur “Mop” Gibson Sr. in 1967. During this union five children were born.

Ruthie’s life journey ended on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the age of 68.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur “Mop” Gibson Sr.; parents, Joseph Sr. and Hester Simmons, three sisters, Mamie Lewis, Addie Mae Black and Lillian Suggs; two brothers, Elijah Simmons and Joseph Simmons Jr.

Celebrating Ruthie Gibson’s memories: three sons: Kenneth Ray and wife, Theresa; Arthur Gibson, Jr, and wife, Theresa; and Eric Gibson; two daughters: Cornelia Ann and husband Robert Mitchell; and Monica Rochelle Gibson; twenty grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; one brother, Rev. Willie M. Simmons and wife Flossie; three sisters, Mary Etta King, Hester Reese, Jorene and husband Raymond Nash. Sister in laws, Rosie and husband Willie Nolan; Erma Jean and husband Robert Simmons; Emma and husband, Al Brown; Marceal Gibson, Frankie Mae Gibson, Jessie Marie and husband Clyde Barnett; and Irene Owens; Brother in law, Clifton Gibson Sr., and a host of nephews, nieces, relative and friends.
