Roy Lee Williams, 65, of Bastrop, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 6, 2020.  He is survived by son, Terry Smith, daughter, Detrich Houston, Angela Bradford.  His casket will lie in state at the Providence District Tabernacle, Thursday, November 19, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.  A Home-Going Celebration will be conducted at Providence District Tabernacle, November 19, 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Fred Blackman presiding, Reverend Casey Waites, eulogist. Interment will follow at the Shilo Cemetery.

A kind and gentle man with great strength.  Roy Lee was a people’s person who loved to make people laugh and smile.

On November 30, 1954, Roy Lee Williams was born to Willie Pearl Williams and Willie Ray Williams in Bastrop, Texas.  He was the first child.  He grew up in Bastrop and attended Bastrop public schools.  After graduating, Roy Lee worked doing heavy construction. Roy loved fishing; everyone will always remember the times that he would go fishing with his mother from sun up to sun down.  Roy Lee was definitely his mother’s “fishing buddy”.  He professed a hope in Christ and was a member of the Lone Star Missionary Baptist Church.

The sun set for Roy Lee Williams was on November 6, 2020.  He caught the “Early Train to Glory, because the Evening Train might have been too late.” He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Pearl Williams and father, Willie Ray Williams.

Roy Lee leaves to memorialize his home going as a kind hearted and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.  His survivors: four children, Destrech Houston (Darrell), Angela Bradford, Cory Smith (Tiffany), and Torry Smith Sr.: three grandsons: Darrell Houston-Blaylock, Abram Mackey, Torry Smith Jr, four granddaughters: Alaina Bradford, Tajah Smith, K’mauri Smith, Kalece Smith: four sibling, Barbara Ann  McFarlin, (Daryl), Gayle Tarver Parker, Nathaniel Williams, Ronald Williams (Ella), two Aunts, Katie Brown (Late AC), Alberta DeShay (Henry): One Uncle: Cal Williams (Lesa)and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
