Roy Harvey Morris III, age 71, of Elgin Texas joined our Lord and Savior on Monday, November 7, 2016. He was born in Houston, Texas on January 31st, 1945. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1963, and attended Blinn Junior College, University of Texas, and Southwest Texas State University. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts.
Roy worked for Weed Instrument Company for many years in Elgin and Round Rock as an Electrical Engineer. He had a TV/VCR/electronics repair business at the house for many years. In later years, he worked as a Security Guard with Texas Department of Public Safety, Capitol Complex, in Austin.
Roy was a Deacon, sang in the Choir, and worked the sound booth at First Baptist Church of Elgin. He was an Assistant Scoutmaster and Treasurer in Boy Scout Troop 182 for 30 years and a Girl Scout Volunteer Dad for 5 years.
Roy loved to do woodworking, making clocks, played the organ, tinkering with antique farm engines, enjoyed the Texas Renaissance Faire and Sherwood Forest Faire, reading, and deer hunting in the Ozona area with fellow Boy Scout Troop Leaders and friends. He was a member of the Texas Antique Radio Club and Texas Early Day Tractor and Engine Association. He raised and showed rabbits in the Central Texas area.
Roy was formerly married to Marilyn Marzec of Elgin, Texas on June 1st, 1968. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Dr. Roy Harvey Morris, Jr. and Irene Kasper Morris. He is survived by his three children; Sandra and husband Larry Elliot, Roy Harevey Morris, IV, and Paula and husband John Crick all of Elgin; six grandchildren; and his three brothers; John Morris of Giddings, Paul Morris of Orange, and James Morris of Austin.
Roy’s wishes were for donations to be made to Boy Scout Troop 182, c/o St. Peters Lutheran Church, 401 East 8th Street, Elgin, Texas 78621. Also, if you would like to join us at the conclusion of Services for a Celebration of Life, at the Fleming Community Center, please feel free to bring a covered dish to share with family and friends.
