Roy Leonard Holman of Gorman, Texas born on April 12, 1938, made his trip home to be with The Lord, and those who died in Christ before him, on April 16, 2018 at the age of 80 years and 4 days. Roy spent the majority of his life in the Thrall area where he raised his family; during which time, he wore several hats: He worked several years with his brother Wayne performing carpentry work such as sheetrocking etc., ran several gas stations, worked for The City of Taylor in the Road Maintenance Division, and spent his spare time with his hobby of tinkering with motors - If it was fixable, he could fix it! Anything it took to support his family!
He is preceded in death by his Dad and Mom Edgar and Stella Holman; wife, Barbra Jean Cleveland; brothers, James Holman and Wayne Holman; sisters, Beatrice York and Dorothy Elliott; and granddaughter, Angie Cotton.
He is survived by his seven children, Diane and husband Thomas Baranowski of Bryan, Texas, Pamela and Husband James Grumbles of Gorman, Texas, Darryl Holman of Gorman, Texas, Randy and wife Aurora Holman of Leander, Texas, Marty and wife Kimberly Holman of Gorman, Texas, Lisa and Husband Steve Barnes of Lake Worth, Texas, and Chris and wife Mary Holman of Round Rock, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; his two sisters, Joyce and husband Guy Moffett Sr. of Manor, Texas and Kathy and husband Roger Jolly of Liberty Hill, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
His greatest love was his family. He spent the past 24 years anticipating this day, so he could be with his wife, the love of his life! He enjoyed fishing, playing and listening to old music, watching westerns, the Dallas Cowboys, The Texas Longhorns, and the Texas Aggies when they were not playing the Texas Longhorns, and playing washers, which he was known as “The Eagle Eye”
Although he is gone he will never be forgotten. He lives on in the hearts of his children where he instilled many of his qualities such as, kindness, compassion, love for others, support for family, and work ethics.
