Mr. Roy Dale Benford was called home to Glory to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, August 2, 2020. Roy Dale was born on June 23, 1960, to the late Leon and Josephine Mildred (Powell) Benford in Smithville, Texas.
As a child he was nurtured and rooted in the admiration of the Lord. He accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized and became a member of Friendship Bible Baptist Church in Bastrop. Roy attended the public schools of Bastrop Independent School District and graduated from Bastrop High School. He continued his education in Arlington, Texas. Roy was a Mechanic by trade and enjoyed working on cars. Being a people person Roy was willing to help others and he loved his family.
Roy Dale is united in death with his parents, and two siblings, Clifton Benford and LaSandra Benford.
Roy Dale was blessed with sixty years, and he leaves in God’s hands to cherish his priceless legacy: Doris Williams, Margaret Strain, Leon Benford Jr., Charlene B Jackson, Mary Butler, Carolyn Williams, Kathy Humphries, and Yevette Hendrix; nephews, nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Home Going Celebration will be conducted, Friday, August 7, 2020, graveside at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop, at 10:00 AM with the Reverend, Leon Benford presiding.
Now his work is ended, And he is laid to rest,
I seem to hear him whisper, O’ Lord I’ve done my best!
Well done my faithful servant I know you’ve struggled hard
That’s why I thought to call you, From labor to rest…
