It is with great sadness that the family of Rose LaCynthia Clemons announces her homegoing on February 10, 2025. Rose was born October 29, 1960, to the late Aaron Taylor and Delois Simms Baker. She was a beloved daughter, mother, and community supporter.
Rose was raised in a Christian home by her mother and stepfather, Elder C.J. Baker. She was baptized at an early age and joined the Lone Star Baptist Church under Pastor Aaron Taylor. Later, she joined the Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church, and participated in the Church Choir, and served on the Usher board. Rose remained active in her faith throughout her life.
Rose graduated from Bastrop High School in 1979 and was an amazing participant and player in several major sports and class organizations, reflecting her competitive spirit and love for physical activities. After high school, she attended Durham School of Business.
On May 8, 1981, Rose was united in marriage to Mr. Victor Clemons. This union was blessed with three children: Crystal, Victoria, and Aaron.
Rose’s employment history includes being a teacher at Shiloh Head Start and a Teacher’s Aide at Bastrop Independent School District until her retirement. At the time of her passing, she was employed with the H E B Plus store.
Rose’s remarkable contributions to the city of Bastrop included, but were not limited to, the Juneteenth Committee, the African American History Museum, and the class of 1979 reunion committee.
Described as selfless, creative, and kind, Rose’s legacy is one of love, service, and the pursuit of knowledge and skill in every aspect of her life. She is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Mr. Victor Clemons; her father, Aaron Taylor; her stepfather, Elder C.J. Baker; her sister, Mrs. Peggy Davis; and her Special friend, Mr. Gerald Jones.
Rose leaves in God’s hands her children, Crystal Clemons, Victoria (David) Wills, Aaron Clemons, and Jakuri (Rachel) McLaurin; nineteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her mother, Delois Baker; her brother, Eric (Ronda) Thompson; her Goddaughters, Latasha Young and Latasha Wilson; her Special nieces and nephews, her Bestie, Carol Wilson; and many relatives and friends.
Rose’s departure from this world leaves a void that cannot be filled. Yet, her spirit of generosity, her laughter, and her unwavering support of her community will remain an indelible imprint on the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Rose LaCynthia Clemons will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire for generations to come.
