Robert Wright, Iii

April 27, 1967 — January 13, 2021

Austin, Texas

Robert Owen Wright, III departed this life on January 13, 2021 to be with his Lord.  He was born April 27, 1967 in Pasadena, Texas, where he grew up. He graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 1985.  Robert attended Texas A&M University at College Station and graduated in the class of 1990.  Robert worked for Travis County and the City of Austin for 24 years, retiring in 2018.  After retiring, he started his own business.

Robert will be dearly missed for his humor and wit, energy, enthusiasm, compassion, and generosity.  Robert never met a stranger and was fun-loving and social.  He loved adventure and travel, music, sports.  He was incredibly involved in the boys’ sports teams and especially loved to watch boxing. A big kid himself, he loved to have movie nights with the boys, regardless of the day of the week.  He never missed an opportunity to seek out fun things to do together and boating on beautiful Lake Travis whenever he had the chance.

He was a hard worker and dedicated and committed to the best service to his customers and was available any time of day or night to answer a call or respond to an email.

He was a member of Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ and a parent of Brentwood Christian School, where the boys have attended since preschool.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Chapman Wright, sons Tyler (22), Mason (15) and Hunter (12).  He is also survived by his parents, Patricia and Robert Owen Wright, Jr. of Malakoff, Texas; his sister and her husband, Pam and Brad Porter of Dallas, Texas; mother-in-law, Carol Chapman and brother-in-law Jeff Chapman of Franklin, Tennessee; niece and nephew Megan and Matthew Porter of Dallas, Texas and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 19th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Funeral Services on January 20th at 11:00 AM with Brother, Charlie Johanson presiding - both held at Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ, 11908 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX  78753.  COVID protocols will be strictly followed.
