Robert Gildon

December 7, 1958 — July 30, 2017

On July 30, 2017, our beloved brother, Mr. Robert Louis Gildon, was called from labor to reward. He was born to Clarence C. and Manda Gildon in Travis County. Robert grew up in Bastrop and Travis County where he attended the public schools in Manor and Elgin I.S.D.; graduating from Elgin High School. Robert grew up in a strong Christian foundation and accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Union Lee Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend J. D. Cleveland.

Upon graduating, Robert joined the U. S. Army, serving seventeen years in the Military Medical Field.

Robert would help anyone that he could, he had a great passion for his family and friends. Taking a liking to the outdoor activities, he showed his skills as a true Texan by caring for his horses and cattle.

Robert’s siblings shared a memory: As long as we can remember Robert read, carried and quoted Bible verses to us . He loved talking to everyone and never met a stranger.

At the age of fifty-eight, Robert heard the voice of Jesus and left his earthly tabernacle to join his parents, and two brothers, MC Gildon and Charles Gildon. Robert led a rewarding and active life just as he desired.

Robert leaves in God’s hands to cherish his legacy, his brothers and sisters, Alfred Gildon and wife, Dorothy of Austin, James Gildon of Elgin, Clarence Gildon of Thrall, Rosie Jones of Webberville, Clara Henson of Austin, Willie Gildon of Austin, Bettie Jones of Webberville and Emma and husband, Greg Scott of Manor; Uncles and Aunts, a multitude of nieces and nephews spanning to four generations, and a host of other relatives and numerous friends.
