Robert Chavez, Jr.

Robert Chavez, Jr., 54, of Austin, passed away, Saturday, August 6, 2022.  Robert was the first-born to Lucy Hope Perez and Ruperto Chabez, Sr., on New Year’s Eve of 1967.  Robert grew up and spent his whole life in the Austin area.  Growing up the oldest, he took great pride in looking after his six younger siblings.  Robert was a skilled mechanic and carpenter.  He was a jack of all trades and worked hard all his life.  He loved spending time with his family enjoying cold beer and BBQ.  Robert loved everything about the water, including fishing, swimming and just hanging out listening to nature.  He really enjoyed singing karaoke and spending time with friends.  Robert had a heart of gold and would give his last dollar and the shirt off his back to help someone in need.  He loved animals of all kinds.  Robert had a special place in his heart for his four children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ruperto Chabez, Sr.  He leaves to cherish his memory is mother, Lucy Hope Perez; his four children, Robert Jimenez Chavez, III., Amber Chavez, Ryan Chavez, and Alexander Robert Chavez; his five grandchildren, Justice, Jeremiah, Jaedon, Jazelle, and Jaylan Jimenez; his eight siblings, Cindy Chavez, Raquel Chavez, Rowena Chavez, Ryan Chavez, Samson Chavez, Steveana Escalante, Jesus Jimenez, and Francisca Jimenez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Family and Friends will gather to Celebrate Robert’s Life at Elgin Funeral Home, Tuesday, August 23rd at 10:00 AM.  Interment will follow at the Alta Vista Cemetery of Bastrop.
