Ricky Dale Roberts, 52, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 at his home in Lexington, Texas surrounded by loved ones. Rick was born in Abilene, Texas on March 7, 1968. He was a Master Electrician, owning and operating a contracting business for the past 20+ years, with his right-hand man, Juan Martinez, by his side. He had strong ties with numerous contractors and business owners across Central Texas, which frequently resulted in long lasting friendships. He served on Rodeo Austin’s BBQ Committee for several years and in 2015, was named Committee Man of the Year. He loved anything sports especially chasing High School football games across the State of Texas. He was a very spur of the moment kind of guy who you could almost always count on for a last-minute adventure, he would comically refer to as “field trips.” Rick enjoyed spending time with his many friends, but he especially enjoyed traveling with his daughter, Abbie, taking her wherever she wanted to go.
Rick is preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Jo Langston and his grandmother, Audrey Crane who was a major influence on how Rick lived his life.
Rick is survived by his daughter, Abbie Michelle Roberts and her mother, Carrie Ketchum of Lexington; his sister, Pam Roberts Dye of Abilene; nephew, Austin Heuermann and his son, Cooper of Merkel; nephew, Stetson Heuermann and wife, Tanya and their children Taylynn and Roper of Snyder; niece, Cheyenne Balderas and husband, Daniel and their children, Addison and Collin of Buffalo Gap; and numerous extended family and close friends whom he considered family.
The family would like to thank Garland Moffett of Lexington and Cliff Dye of Abilene who never left his side during his final days. Rick thought of these two men as his brothers, so thank you both as well as your families for the sacrifices all of you made for him.
A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be conducted at the Knobbs Springs Baptist Church of McDade, Saturday, May 16th at 1:00 PM with Brother, Garland Moffett presiding. Everyone is encouraged to pickup a Memory Card at the Service or leave a note on his obituary page, sharing a memory or kind word for his daughter, Abbie.
