On the evening of May 13, 2016, Richard passed away peacefully at the Serbin Serenity Home in Serbin, Texas, where he was surrounded by his loving family. Richard lived a full life of 86 years, 2 months, and 19 days. He was born at the family home in Elgin, Texas on February 23, 1930. He was the eldest of three sons born to Annie Heine Neidig and Richard Neidig, Sr.In his early years Richard worked on the family farm in Elgin with his Father raising milo, corn, and cotton. He attended the Elgin Independent schools and graduated from Elgin High School. While attending high school he joined and served in the National Guard. He also met his wife, Hilda Kastner Neidig while attending Elgin High School, and was married on June 11, 1950 at the McDade Baptist Church in McDade, Texas. They established their home in Mc Dade where he continued farming for many years, and ranched cattle throughout his life.He worked under power plant construction at the Sim Gideon Power Plant at Lake Bastrop, in Bastrop, Texas, and also worked for the Giddings Independent School District on the High School campus for 18 years where he retired on August 31, 2000.He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Annie Heine Neidig and Richard Neidig, Sr. and his two brothers, Heine and Hilding Neidig.Richard is survived by his wife, Hilda Kastner Neidig of McDade; his three children Richard Lawrence Neidig and wife, Kim, Terrence Lynn Neidig and wife, Debbie, and Kathleen Neidig, and her husband, Bryan Gersch; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson"s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, Florida 33131 " Richard Albert Neidig, Jr.The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, May 20th.
