Refugio Tamez, Sr., 92, of Elgin, Texas passed away surrounded by his family, Monday morning, August 04, 2014. He was born Tuesday, July 4th, 1922 to Alfonso and Emilia Tamez.He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Emilia Tamez wife of 59 years, Ramona Tamez three brothers, Aldolfo, Raul, and Manuel Tamez granddaughter, Linda Lopez and great grandson, David Zachary Lopez.Refugio leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Alfonso Poncho and wife Socorro Tamez of Houston and Refugio Jr. Cookie and wife Mary Tamez of Houston three daughters, Emilia and husband Jimmy Lopez of Elgin, Amparo and husband Ramiro Garza of Elgin, and Beatrice and Robert Sturkie of Claude 24 grandchildren 21 great grandchildren and 1 greatgreat grandchild.The family will receive guest at the Elgin Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at the Elgin Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Pastor, Samuel Estrada officiating. Interment will follow at Elgin Latin Cemetery with Sam Sturkie, Alfonzo Tamez, Jr., Alejandro Garza, Refugio Tamez III, Thomas Lopez and James Lopez service as Pallbearers and Ramiro Garza Jr., Rolando Garza, Adrian Lopez, Andrew Lopez, Bobby Hill, Tony Tamez, Jacob Tamez, Aaron Gonzales, and Brigido Reyes serving as Honorary Pallbearers
