Mr. Raymond Isaiah Cook was the fifth child of eleven children born to Willie Cook, Jr. and Luella McCullough Cook in Elgin, Texas on September 17, 1959. He was raised in a Christian foundation home and was baptized at an early age at Lakeview Baptist Church. Raymond attended the public school in Elgin Independent School District and graduated from Elgin High School with the class of 1979. Raymond attended Winn’s Memorial and Mount Carmel Baptist Church in and out of season as he desired.
Raymond was called home at the age of 61, on Friday, January 15, 2021 and waiting in heaven, Raymond will join his parents, and siblings, Mattie Mae, Rubbie Nell, and Sammy, Jr.
Raymond was a God fearing man that loved his family, for he knew that family is important and should be cherished. Raymond enjoyed horseback riding, fishing and hunting with bragging rights. He would fire up the grill and show off his talent in cooking for the family, whiling listening to his country music or watching a good western movie on television. Raymond had many jobs through his journey, beginning at the Butler Brick Yard, then the Golden Years Nursing Home before landing a career job, as a driller with the Oil Fields in Giddings. Raymond’s favorite snack and meal was Southside sausage with red soda, quite often settling for summer sausage, hog head cheese or rat cheese with crackers, always willing to share with a good conversation piece.
Raymond leaves in God’s hands to celebrate and cherish his memories are his children, Kimberly Cook, Tammy Cook, and Christopher Cook; one grandchild, Daiveon; siblings, Ray Charles Cook, Tony Wendell Cook, Annie Bell Cook, Wanda Kay and her husband, Anthony Joiner, Ezra James Cook, James Cook, Cindy Kay Cook, and Ramona Lanell Cook; her uncle, Raymond Vincent, a multitude of nieces and nephews covering three to four generations, and a host of other relatives and friends.
