Philip M. Worley, 74 of Elgin, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Philip Worley was born in Pampa, Texas, on June 8, 1946, to Harold Cecil Worley and Velma Alice McElhannon Worley. Phil grew up in Levelland, Texas and graduated from Levelland High School. He went on to attend Texas Tech University, until his college career was interrupted by his service in the US Navy and a tour of duty in Viet Nam. While in the Navy, he was taught the Vietnamese Language and in Viet Nam served as a translator of air traffic. When he returned to Lubbock, he completed his Bachelor’s degree at Texas Tech, with a major in Asian Studies. It was then he met and marrid Kathy Whittenburg Worley. Upon graduation, he began a career as a Commodities Trader, which he loved. Philip and his wife, Kathy moved all around Texas, with their two children: working in Lubbock, Katy, Houston, Austin, and Burnet. He also lived and worked in San Diego, CA and New Orleans, LA.
Phil is survived by his two children, Christine Worley Huber and Philip Mack Worley,II; and his granddaughter, Danielle Huber of Bastrop; his sister, Mary Worley Borland of Ropesville; his brother, Michael Worley of Levelland; as well as his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to extend their grateful appreciation to the staff of Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation for the loving care they gave him during these last few years.
