Nathaniel Cypress

April 12, 1959 — May 20, 2017

On April 12, 1959, in a military hospital on Bergstrom Air Force Base, located in a small community called Del Valle, Texas, a blessing from God was bestowed upon Herman Cypress and Beauty Jewel (Morris) Cypress: God’s gift was a baby boy they would call Nathaniel Alvin Cypress for 58 years.

Nathaniel grew up in Austin, attending Blackshear Elementary, Keating Middle School and graduated from Austin High School. Nathaniel accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Friendly Will Baptist Church by the Reverend Galasso.

Nathaniel continued his education at Durham College and finished his associates degree at Austin Community College. He worked hard in many varied occupations before he began working with the State of Texas as Pharmacy and Laboratory Technician. Due to his declining health, Nathaniel was forced into early retirement.

Nathaniel loved sports, which he played in high school. He was always showing off his athletic abilities – his favorite was the ability to jump over his car. He enjoyed modeling in the fashion industry when he worked for DRJ Productions, performing open acts for famous artists such as Cameo. He even tried his hands in designs and sewing his own clothing line, which bore his initials, N.A.C.

Nathaniel was the proud father to two beautiful girls, Shawanda and Chanae.
He enjoyed life and love his family time, especially when he was given the chance of babysitting his grandchildren.

Nathaniel’s heavenly departure was Saturday, May 20, 2017, and his victory in God through Christ began. Waiting in Heaven for Nathaniel are his parents and his brother, John H. Cypress.

Nathaniel leaves in God’s hands to cherish his memory, two girls, Shawanda and Chanae Cypress; three grandchildren, Antoine Carter, Anthonasia Lockhart, and Dominic Nichols; three siblings, Ronald Cypress, Dorothy J. Cypress and Melwyn A, Cypress; one uncle, Reverend John Morris, Jr. and his wife, Laura; nephews and nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends.
