On Wednesday, January 26, 2022, Mrs. Muriel L. Owens, heard the Lord say:
“You've fought a good fight and have finished your course
and kept the faith, come on home to your eternal rest. “
Muriel Owens, sweetly known as “Kathy”, was born on December 25, 1958, to Frank, and Ethel Jarmon. in Austin, Texas. She grew up on the East side of Austin, attending the Austin Independent School District and graduated in 1977 from John H. Reagan High School. Kathy grew up with a strong Christian foundation and godly parents. She was inspired by the words of the Bible and acknowledged Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and was Baptized at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church by Pastor E. L. Roberts. As she grew in life and wisdom, Kathy moved her membership to Weeping Willow Baptist Church serving the Lord faithfully until her death.
On December 15, 1979, Kathy was united in Holy Matrimony to the Love of her life, Freddie Owens. Their family grew fast sharing love and making great memories. The Lord blessed them with a daughter and a son.
Kathy loved the Lord, her family, and her Church. She served many roles within the church and sub-district namely, President of the Usher Department, Deaconess, Youth Sunday School Teacher, Pastor Aide Committee, Weeping Willow Mission Group, Youth Advisor, We Care Nursing Home Ministry, and Vice President of the Elgin Sub-District Ushers.
Kathy was a humble, soft-spoken lady with a big heart, sharing it with her children, spoiling them one by one as she desired, especially her son. Kathy grew up in a large family, having a special bond with her siblings. Kathy and Freddie traveled and saw much history, always keeping a little back for their precious memories.
She worked at Motorola retiring with twenty-seven years.
Kathy was greeted in Heaven by her parents: Frank and Ethel Jarmon, one brother: Frank, Jr., one Sister, Betty Cook, and a daughter, Cynthia Owens.
Kathy leaves behind to cherish her memories are: her devoted and loving husband of 42 years, Freddie Owens, a beloved son, Datron M. Owens, two grandchildren, Quinton Owens; & LaKenya Fitzgerald (Billy Ray); three great grandsons: Quincy Nolan-Lowe, Larry, and Zaylen Penson; her sisters, Shirley Ann Hill, Marilyn Rena Mosley (Lew), Brenda Joyce Jarmon, Charlotte Marie Jarmon, Patricia Ann, Jarmon, all of Austin, Texas; her five God Children: Fredrick Griffin, Trekeshela Powell, Nathen Lewis, Tyasia Elder, and Jaxson Garner; and a host of uncles, aunts, in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends, including the Weeping Willow Church family.
Throughout Kathy’s life, she cared for her family, and she will live on in our hearts forever
Family and Friends will gather for Visitation at Elgin Funeral Home, Friday, February 4th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Celebration of life will be conducted at, Lost Pines Cowboy Church of Elgin, Under the auspices of Weeping Willow Missionary Baptist Church of McDade, Saturday, February 5th at 2:00 PM with the Reverend, Justin Green presiding. Interment will follow at Elgin Latin Cemetery.
