Milton D. Wilson of Austin, TX died at the age of 77, on December 31, 2020. Milton was born in Harrison Arkansas on December 10, 1943.
Milton was a very proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, preacher, missionary, servant, and mentor. He was able to see things in people that they did not see in themselves and he felt genuine joy in seeing others succeed. He was always happy to share a sermon, encouragement, advice, or help with his own hands. He felt a huge sense of honor when someone wanted to preach one of his sermons. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and was so proud of all of their accomplishments.
With encouragement and support from Sue, Milton left his job and home in 1965 and moved to Lubbock Texas to attend the Sunset School of Preaching (now Sunset International Bible Institute). That decision launched him into a life of mission work that crossed two continents and impacted thousands of people. He was a missionary in South Africa from 1969 to 1974 and a pulpit minister and bible teacher all his life.
In documenting his ministry history, Milton included the following paragraphs:
I’ve come to the point in my life where I now look people in the eyes and say, “I just want you to go to Heaven.” I have dreams for my children and grandchildren. I want more than anything in the world for them to be faithful to God and go to Heaven. I pray for my children and grandchildren every day. I pray for each by name. I pray for others as well. I pray for peace in the world and peace in the Church. I pray for all the great works like those at the Sunset School, and for those who lead in such works.
I just want to be the kind of person for the rest of my life that is looked upon as having unwavering faith in God. I just want to go to Heaven. And I want everybody that I can influence for good to go there with me. With the Lord’s help, forgiveness, and a lot of His mercy I will one day enjoy His Glory in Heaven. I’m thankful for God’s blessings in my life, and for the opportunities He has given me.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Arlie Wilson; his brother, Delbert; his sister, Wanda; and his brother-in-law, Dave Wilkerson.
