Milton Roberson, Jr., a very special gift from God to Milton Roberson and Rosetta Colvin in the small town of Taylor, Texas on February 28, 1943. He was their first born, bearing his father’s name.
Growing up with a strong Christian foundation, Milton, fondly known as Bobby, accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pleasant Bethany Baptist Church. As a nurturing young man, Bobby attended public schools of Bastrop County, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in 1961 and remained an Alumni supporter. Bobby was a great football player and set many records. Which gained him the nick name, ‘Night Train’. His profile was reviewed by the NFL, namely Mean Joe Green. In those days Bobby chose his family.
Milton was united in holy matrimony to Vernell Thomas on August 9, 1962. This union was blessed with seven children. Bobby, as always called by his bride, worked construction to maintain his family. The couple enjoyed forty-five years of marriage at the time of her death in 2007.
Bobby’s nickname followed him throughout his life and was freely called ‘Train’.
A hard working man, loving his family as they grew, enjoyed singing and, supporting his wife’s ministry as they traveled throughout the state. He actively participated in his children’s youth activities as their football and baseball coach. His favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys and it was not a secret. Train’s early religious teachings have continued to be the cornerstone of his life and his children, for he was a faithful member of the Freedom Home Baptist Church. Ordained as a Deacon, serving Reverend Oscar Howard, Jr., until his death. Milton retired from Faulkner Construction and Montoya and Sons.
After seeing his family grow to four generations, on November 24, 2019, Milton heard the voice of Jesus and left his earthly tabernacle. He is preceded in death by his wife, Prophetess Vernell Thomas Roberson, both parents, two grandchildren, Samuel and Christina.
