Mildred Lindgren

Mildred “Nanny” Lindgren, born October 8, 1929, joined Jacob “Pawpaw” Lindgren, the love of her life, on February 13, 2022, at the young age of 92.  The other love of her life was baking, her flowers, photography, and of most of all her family.  She worked for Singer Sewing Machine, Comal Cottons, Winns and even drove a school bus.  When she retired, she was always surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren and would spend her spare time baking up a storm.  Nanny loved to take all kind of baked goodies to the schools, banks, and other local places.  She was known as, “The Cookie Lady.”  When she wasn’t baking, she was quilting and tending to her flowers for her birds and butterflies.  The front of her home was always full of flowers.  Pawpaw would build her the flowerbeds and she would fill them with flowers.  In the springtime, she loved to fill the front of the house with hummingbird feeders.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Ruby and F.L. King; her husband, Jacob “Pawpaw” Lindgren; and her son, Jacob “Big Jake” Lindgren.

She is survived by her children, Charles “Chuck” Lindgren and wife Betty and Jean Barnes and husband Clifford Jr.; her grandchildren, Terri Siens and husband Andrew, Jason Lindgren and wife Robyn, Shirley Lindgren, Samantha Smith and husband Nathan, Angela Cumba and husband Shan, Kyle Lindgren and wife Kourtnee, and Clifford Barnes III and wife Candice; and last but not least, her great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Chris, Nate, Meghan, Preston, Presleigh, Brysen, Lillie, Dominic, Everleigh, one on the way, Ethan, Ben, Sandy, Alison, Stephen, Sophia and Sean, Grady, Eli, Clifford, Nancy; her great-great-grandchildren, Kylend, Kortlyn, and Kynleigh.

Family and Friends will gather for Visitation at Elgin Funeral Home, Tuesday, February 22nd from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  We will be celebrating the wonderful life of our Nanny, at her family home, on Saturday, March 5th, as we honor her wishes by planting a redbud tree in her memory.
