Mickey Wayne Summers, 61, of Bastrop, Texas, passed away comfortably on Monday, December 23,2024, in the presence of his daughter, Linnie Inez Summers.

Mickey was born on August 21, 1963, in Stamford, Texas. He married the love of his life, Ella K. Summers, on July 6, 1986, in Bastrop, Texas. Over the years, he lived in Texas, Germany, Kansas, and Wisconsin, creating lasting memories in each place.

He was a man of boundless curiosity, extraordinary talent, and unwavering dedication. He could do just about anything, with hobbies that included construction, plumbing, electrical work, gaming, collecting Star Wars, Star Trek, and Lord of the Rings merchandise, mechanical work, welding, woodworking, and engineering.

He served his country honorably for 27 years, retiring as an E-8 (Master Sergeant). In addition to his military service, he worked in the oil and gas industry, as a jailer at the sheriff’s department, and in the National Guard, where he played a vital role in disaster relief during Hurricane Katrina.

Mickey’s dreams and vocations reflected his adventurous spirit. He aspired to be an astronaut, yearning to go to the moon and beyond. He also wanted to be a pilot and engineer, which embodied his passion for exploring and understanding the mysteries of the universe.

He was deeply devoted to his family, his wife, children, and grandchildren were the center of his world. Mickey’s passions also extended to politics, integrity, honesty, efficiency, and learning new things. He had a profound curiosity about the world around him, and his love for animals.

Mickey was civically engaged by writing a plethora of letters to his congressman, advocating for what he believed was right.

 He is preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice Inez Mitchell and Richard Summers; sisters, Paula and Sherry Summers; granddaughter, Zoey Summers. 

Mickey is survived by his devoted wife, Ella Summers; children, Linnie Summers, Brandy Konkol, and Beatrice Summers; brothers, Terry Summers and Alvin Summers; grandchildren, Morgan Summers, Hilary Summers, C.J. Huston, Emma Summers, Abbey Summers, Parker Konkol, Kayden Summers, and Kora Konkol; daughter-in-law, Kari Konkol, and countless friends and extended family who loved him dearly.

Mickey will be remembered for his brilliant mind, kind heart, and endless love for those around him. He was a man who could do anything, and he made the world a better place with his presence. Live long and prosper, dad.

Family and Friends will gather for Visitation at Elgin Funeral Home on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, with a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM with Brother Joshua Hausladen presiding. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery of McDade.
