On the morning of June 4, 2013, Melvin Lee Penson was called to his eternal rest. Melvin Lee was born to Johnnie B. and John L. Penson on Wednesday, March 2, 1949. He attended schools in Bastrop. After graduation, Melvin went on to serve his Country in the United States Army, where he toured Vietnam and Germany. After more than 18 years of service, he retired and was honorably discharged. He then began a second career with the City of Austin, where he worked as a general safety and training supervisor before he retired.Melvin was preceded in death by both parents a daughter, Venderlyn PensonWright sister, Genie Mae Penson three brothers, Chester ONeil Penson, Marlin Ray Penson and Johnny L. Penson.He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 44 years, Beulah two sons, Melton L. Penson and wife Carnecia and Shaun R. Penson and wife Kiauna two daughters, Latrice M. and husband Don Chambers and LaQuesha C. Penson soninlaw, Volmer Wright special nephew, Gregory Caro 15 grandchildren, Mellisha, Ebony, Melton, Jr., Calvin, BreAnna, Don Trey, Kishaun, Arthur, Deshuana, Sharell, Dashaun, Kiaun, TaQuiria, Isaiah, and Chrystian four greatgrandchildren, Nevaeh, Navon, Quaylyn, BraNayah four sisters, Cleo Wilson, Anna Penson, Vera Penson, and Eunice Penson three brothers, Arthur Roberson, Harold Penson, and Roy Penson brotherinlaw, Bobby Bush extended family, John, Deborah, Rowena, and Jason and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and love ones.The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, June 10th. A funeral service will be conducted at the Alpha SeventhDay Adventist Church, 3016 E.51st Street, Austin, Texas, at 12:00 PM Tuesday, June 11th. Interment will follow with Military Honors at Evergreen Cemetery.
