Maxine Louise Pantano, 91, of McDade, passed away peacefully, early Saturday morning, April 8, 2023. Maxine was the first born to Eleanor Gladys Nichols Smith and Harry Rufus Smith, in Olathe, Colorado, on November 17, 1931. She grew up and attended schools in Colorado. On April 4, 1970, she married Joseph Aaron Pantano. They would celebrate nearly 40 years of marriage before his passing in 2010. After Joseph retired in the late 90’s, he and Maxine moved to Bastrop, where they could be close to their daughter and grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, puzzles, and word puzzles. She especially loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded by her husband, Joseph; both her parents; her great-grandson, Brandon Shelly; her brother, Harry Allen Smith; and her sister, Carla Jean Andres.
Maxine leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Patricia and husband, Rick Shelly; her granddaughter, Kari Shelly; her grandson, Rick Shelly, Jr. and wife Rebecca; her six great-grandchildren, Tiffany Shelly, Joseph Shelly and wife Kenia, Jasmine Shelly, Madyson Osborn, Samantha Renfro, and Elizabeth Shelly; and numerous extended family and dear friends.
Family and Friends will gather for Visitation at Elgin Funeral Home, Wednesday, April 12th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Maxine’s Life will be conducted Graveside at Fairview Cemetery of Bastrop on April 13th at 2:00 PM.
