Mark Grayson Puckett, 53, of Elgin, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, November 3, 2022. Mark was born, in Austin, Texas, the fourth child of five children to Lorelei “L.B.” Burnett Puckett and Max Gary Puckett, on June 23, 1969. The family moved to Elgin, TX in 1972. Mark grew up and remained a part of the Elgin community through a large majority of his life.
Once Mark became of age, he met Pam Dawson and decided to venture out of Texas to Kansas where he remained and shared a life with Pam for many years. Mark and Pam decided to live separate lives and Mark returned to Texas.
Upon his return to Texas, he secured a job as a loader operator at Lauren Concrete in Austin. During his time working at Lauren Concrete, Mark met and married Julie Mauller. Mark and Julie had one child together, Hannah Nicole Puckett. Although Julie and Mark went their separate ways, their love for their daughter never wavered.
Mark left Lauren Concrete and held several jobs as a skilled tradesman working independently through most of his later years. As a secondary occupation Mark loved to create unique and beautiful items by taking unwanted belongings and turning them into something useful, or artistically beautiful with ingenuity and sheer talent. He would bring new life into objects others perceived as trash.
Mark later married and divorced Michelle Sandifer who has daughters, Erin and Seretta Pina from a previous marriage. Though they ended in divorce, they continued their mutual respect for one another.
Mark loved to fish and he would be the first to tell you he was an expert angler. He also loved hunting and shooting with family and friends. Mark was an expert marksman and an avid motorcycle rider. He would also indulge in collecting and searching for genuine arrow heads. He loved listening to and quoting stand-up comedy, listening to, and singing classic rock music. All things that brought life and joy to the world and those around him.
Mark was predeceased by mother, Lorelei Burnett Puckett; niece, Sierra Marie Sandifer; uncles, George Burnett, Larmar Burnett, Jesse Burnett, Gene Burnett; his aunt, Neil Calhoun; and paternal family members, aunt Dorothy Brown, uncle Carlton Puckett, aunt Jo Ann Hardy, and aunt Lila Mae Wood.
Mark is survived by his father, Max Gary Puckett and wife, Lynn Puckett; his daughter, Hannah Nicole Puckett; aunts, Opal Rowenna, Mary Loretta Calhoun, and Mary Virginia Puckett; uncle Clyde Puckett; his siblings, Jay Ashley Puckett and wife Betty, Gari Laffone Sandifer and husband Doug, Eric Shane Puckett and wife Cheryl Ann, and Adam Scott Puckett; nieces and nephews, Justin Schreader, Debbie Davis, Clinton Wayne Sandifer, Eric Franklin Puckett, Crystal Kati Jaindl, Shannon Angelina Balderas, Max Gary Puckett II, Cheyenne Puckett and Karlee Puckett; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Mark above all else had a great appreciation and love for life. His ability to bring joy to those around him made every situation better, no matter if it was manual labor or fishing with cranky old men. Mark held a beacon of light within him that brought sunlight to the darkest corners. He will be gravely missed, but the memories he bestowed upon us will be greatly cherished. Mark brought joy and unconditional love to his family, and that love will forever be remembered. Mark Grayson Puckett will live on through our memories of him and the eternal joy he brought to our lives.
