Margie Walker

Margie Sue Walker, 72, passed away September 12, 2015. Margie was born in Houston, Texas, during an ice storm, on January 20, 1943, to Ivan and Marguerite Lee. She grew up and attended schools in Houston - graduating from Sam Houston High School in 1960, Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas and the University of Houston, where she received her Liberal Arts Degree in English Literature in 1974. She met and married Sidney, the love of her life, in 1962, and they settled in Houston, where they raised their children and she worked for many years in the secretarial field. Margie loved to travel, taking numerous vacations through the years with her husband, and various family and friends, to Europe, Canada and Mexico, and within the U.S. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who dearly loved spending time with her family and friends. Margie was a devout Lutheran, actively involved for a number of years at Abiding Word in Houston, Texas. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, tracing her family roots back to the days before Texas became a state. She and her husband relocated to Lexington, Texas for their retirement and built their dream house on 5 acres to enjoy the birds and wildlife, and the peace and quiet. They had ten bucolic years there. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Sidney Walker; her daughter, Cynthia and husband, Stephen McCormack; her son, Ramsey Walker and wife, Hollie; four grandchildren, Katie and husband, Richard Garza, Matthew McCormack, Josephine Walker, and Marguerite Walker; her brother, John Lee and wife Rose; two nephews, Michael and Todd Lee; and her aunt, Susie Hicks. Margie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, September 14th. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the Elgin Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 15th with the Reverend, Steve Vallesky officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM in the Brookside Memorial Park, Houston, Texas.
