Lela "Nell" D. Williams lived a life full of love, service, and joy. Born in Austin, Texas, on February 16, 1960, to Roger Ates and Mattie Williams, Nell was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and grandmother. While both of her parents have passed, her memory continues to live on through her son Matthew Alexander of Manor, TX, and her cherished grandchildren, Matthew Travis Alexander Jr. and Mya Ja’ Alexander.
She is also survived by her brothers Ronnie Jones (wife Joyce Jones) of San Antonio, TX, LeRoy Williams (wife Crisfel Williams) of Martinsburg, WV, James Williams of Elgin, TX, and Joseph Williams of Austin, TX. Her brothers, David Williams and Sam Williams, who preceded her in death, are fondly remembered.
Nell dedicated 31 years to the University of Texas, where she worked until her anticipated retirement in the coming year. She was known for her generous spirit, always willing to go the extra mile to help others. When she needed support, she never hesitated to call for backup. Her kindness and willingness to assist others touched many lives throughout the years.
Lela Deneal Williams, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 20, 2025. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the countless lives she touched. While services will be private, a Celebration of Life is being planned to honor her remarkable spirit and legacy. Details will be shared in the coming days. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Family and Friends will gather for a Celebration of Lela's Life at Clay Madsen Recreation Center of Round Rock, on Sunday, February 16th from 12:30 PM until 4:00 PM.
