Lanus Jackson, 68, of Bastrop, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020. He will lie in state at Elgin Funeral Home, December 8th from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Home-Going Celebration will be conducted at Williams Memorial Chapel, Wednesday, December 9th at 11:00 AM with the Reverend, Chester DeShay presiding. Interment will follow at Clearview Cemetery, Dixon Prairie.
Lanus Jackson was born on July 8, 1952 in Taylor, Williamson County, Texas to loving parents, Alvin Williams and Tina Marie Jackson. He was the older of two children.
Lanus grew up in a close knit family. He accepted Christ at a young age and baptized by Pastor L. J. Thorne, retired Pastor at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Cedar Creek, Texas. He attended public school in Taylor and Bastrop, Texas. Lanus played basketball, wearing double zero (00) as his number. He ran track, also.
Lanus was sweetly called Doodie by his family, and then it became a handle for his friends, Doodie Jackson.
Doddie Jackson has one daughter and one son.
Doodie was called from labor to rest on November 28th, and waiting for his heavenly arrival is his Mother, Tina Thomas, Father, Alvin Jackson, Sr. and Step-father, Willie Thomas.
Doobie passing will be mourned by his brother, Alvin Jackson and his wife, Janis, of Lexington, his Aunts: Berthal Jackson, Dorothy Mae Jackson, Alberta and her husband, Henry DeShay, special nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Doobie, fly high and leave your wheelchair behind….
