On Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 12:18 a.m. in Austin, TX, at the age of 17, Lance was called to rest from his earthly toils. On the day of March 23, 1998, in small town Gretna, Louisiana, Elhanna Thomas, Jr. and Christina Carroll were blessed with a bouncing baby boy, whom they named Lance Jordan Thomas. Lance grew up in Gretna and New Orleans, Louisiana. At the age of twelve, Lance and his family moved to Texas. He attended public schools at Jefferson Parish and then Manor ISD. Lance was set to graduate from Manor High School in December 2015. Lance had a passion for sports and enjoyed them all. He was an active member of the Manor High School Mustangs Football and Basketball Teams. Lance was known as a strong, loving young man, one who enjoyed life and spending time with his family and friends. He will always be remembered, by all who knew him, for his joy and spirt. Lance leaves his footprints in life to be cherish by his mother and best friend, Christina and her husband Robert Butler; his father Elhanna Thomas, Jr. and his wife Grizelda; his maternal grandparents, Judy and Donald Skene; paternal grandparents, Clarice and Elhanna Thomas, Sr.; his siblings, Robert Butler, Jr., Xavier Gourdin, Alyssa Thomas, Justin Butler, Lance Gourdin, Brianna Johnson, Kristen Butler, and Jalen Butler; his aunts and uncles; his cousins; and numerous extended family and dear friends, including the faculty and student body of Manor High School.The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, November 09th. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at the Manor I.S.D. Athletic Complex at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 10th. Interment will follow at Capital Parks Memorial Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
