Ladislao S. Rangel, of Austin, TX (previously of Elgin, TX), entered Heaven, on Thursday, October 24, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Ladislao, (known to many as “Ladis” or “Boy”), was born on September 26, 1951, to Fernando Sr. and Paula Rangel, in a house on 7th Street, in Austin, Texas.
On April 30, 1982, Ladislao married his wife, Margarita Ruiz-Rangel. They have celebrated 42 anniversaries together
Ladis retired from Sysco Foods, where he had worked for 36 years as a forklift operator or wherever his help was needed. He enjoyed working there and made many friends. Prior to Sysco, Ladis worked for Southside Market & BBQ in Elgin, TX. He especially enjoyed his time working for Southside, either at the slaughterhouse, meat market, or the pit area. His kids would say they had their fair share of BBQ growing up. Ladis loved barbecuing for his family and was their own personal pitmaster for all events, such as Easter get-togethers.
Ladis loved his family dearly. His kids meant the world to him, but his grandkids and great grandkids he cherished his time with them. He was always there to support them in their extracurricular activities and often bragged about them. You could see him supporting them at cross country and track meets, dance recitals, football, basketball, baseball and softball fields. He had the loudest voice out there and you knew you had your grandpa supporting you. Ladis was so very proud of all his grandchildren. Especially of his great granddaughter, Alivia Tijerina, whom he and Grandma Margarita helped raise, since she was two months old. Grandpa Ladis also loved helping with his granddaughter, Samantha Calderon, with getting her to and from school whenever needed.
Ladis loved tending to his yard, and helping his family with theirs, as well as the family cemetery. He was also a huge supporter of his Dallas Cowboys Football, UT sports, Spurs Basketball, and Texas Rangers Baseball Teams.
Ladislao is survived by his wife, Margarita, his daughters Lisa Rangel Gonzales of Brownfield, TX, Carmen Rangel Calderon (Michael) of Austin, TX, his sons Hector Ruiz and James Ruiz of Austin, TX, six (6) grandchildren, and eight (8) great grandchildren, his sisters Manuela “Nellie” Gildner, Silvia Cantu, and Fernando Rangel (Irma) of Elgin, TX.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, brother Jose Rangel and sister Angela Rangel.
