Keith Dee Drosche, age 82, of Elgin, Texas, peacefully departed this world in the early hours of March 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. His gentle spirit and unwavering generosity touched the lives of all who knew him.
Born in Lexington, Texas to AO and Rosa Lillian Drosche, Keith's early years were spent in Blanco and Giddings before his family settled in Austin. There, he attended McCallum High School and the University of Texas, forging lifelong friendships that enriched his life. He later raised his own family in Austin, and after his children had grown, he and his beloved wife, Ardith, made their home in Elgin for over four decades.
For many years, Keith served as a deacon at Northwest Baptist Church in Austin. He was a quiet, gentle giant whose actions spoke volumes about his faith. He believed that true richness lay not in material possessions but in the kindness we show to others. An avid reader and passionate outdoorsman, he thrived on sharing his love for nature through hunting, fishing, and camping trips. With a cup of coffee in one hand and a book—usually a good Western—in the other, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Above all, Keith cherished his role as a "Bapaw" to his grandchildren. After retiring, he dedicated countless hours to driving them to school and extracurricular activities, celebrating each milestone with pride. He found his greatest happiness in a bustling home filled with family, laughter, and the warmth of shared moments, often playing games of 42 or cradling a grandchild on his lap.
Keith is now reunited in peace with his parents; sisters, Dawn Delphine and Rita Zapalac. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 50 years, Ardith Bearden Drosche; his daughters, Robin (Joe) Corrigan and Kara Logan; stepson Royce (Lynette) Gray; stepdaughter Penny (Ricky) Holcomb; his sister Joan (Ken) Johnson; brother-in-law Wilbur Zapalac; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of cherished cousins and friends. His absence will be felt deeply, and he will be missed beyond measure.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at Elgin Funeral Home, Saturday, April 5th at 3:00 PM. Family and Friends will continue a Celebration of Keith's Life, following the service, at the Main Pavilion in Elgin Memorial Park, 1127 Main Street. Please bring a chair, your favorite non-alcoholic beverage, and a dish to share, and come together for food and fellowship in loving memory of Keith.
