Kay Myers

November 17, 1935 — October 27, 2017

Kay Myers, 81, of Lexington, Texas, passed away Friday afternoon, October 27, 2017. Our loving mother and grandmother, was born to Toliver and Catherine Newman on Sunday, November 17, 1935 in Roswell, New Mexico. Her father was a Firefighter for the US Air Force. His career led them from Roswell to Pyote, Texas and ultimately to Lubbock, Texas.

Kay and her younger brother, Stuart Newman, spent most of their early years on and around the Air Force bases in West Texas. Their mother died young and our mom became a mother figure at 14 years old. Stuart has always complimented how she handled her new role and how loving she was to him as a child and as an adult. One of her many qualities is how endearing, nurturing and loving she was with her family.

Kay married Arthur Myers and they resided primarily in Odessa, Texas. They traveled the US with his career in the Oil and Gas business. They had two daughters, Rosiland and Rhonda and one son, Arthur Jack. Later in life she moved to the Austin area and ultimately to Lexington, Texas.

Kay leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Rosiland Myers of Lexington, Texas and Rhonda Myers of Georgetown, Texas; one grandson, Kaden Myers of Lexington, Texas; one brother, Stuart Newman of Lubbock, Texas and many extended family members.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Toliver and Catherine Newman; and one son, Arthur Jack Myers.

Kay loved deeply and never failed to express it sincerely. She was an artist at heart and loved gardening. We were blessed with almost 82 years with her and she will be greatly missed.

The family wishes in lieu of flowers to make donations in Kay’s honor to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
