John Lawhon

John William Lawhon, 67, born November 14, 1948, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at St. David"s South in Austin on July 4, 2016. John was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. John E. and Nellie Lawhon. Dad was a natural storyteller and would hold court telling tales, most of which were the misadventures of his youth with his two brothers. John was artistic and creative and worked in many different trades throughout his life. Ultimately, he found Jesus and his life changed forever. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Sandra Lawhon; his three sons, Johnny and his girlfriend and his children, Luke and his wife and their children, James and his wife; his mother, Nellie Lawhon; his brother, Ken Lawhon, his wife and their children; and his late brother, Sammy"s sons and their wives and children; and his best dog, Tinker. The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home on Thursday, July 7th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the Elgin Funeral Home on Friday, July 8th at 10:00 AM with Pastor Mark Jeter officiating. Interment will follow at the Youngs Prairie Cemetery.
