John Guy

October 15, 1947 — December 14, 2019

The battle is over, I have fought a good fight, and the victory is finally won.

No more suffering and pain, I have much more to gain.

I heard the heavenly angelic choir singing as it drew near the hour.

When the pearly gates open,

I could see…

Mr. John Willie Guy, a long life-time resident of Taylor, Texas and on December 14, 2019, the community began to mourn the passing of a strong man who maintained dignity manhood while facing life’s trials and triumphs. He was born October 15, 1947, to Leslie Guy, Sr. and Hattie Guy in Taylor, Texas.  /John was the eighth child born to this union of nine children and the last son to be called home. John accepted Christ at an age at First Baptist Church of Taylor.  He attended the local schools of Williamson County finishing at O. L. Price High School before entering the US Army. John completed one tour including the Vietnam War. Upon returning to the states, he took a job as a custodian at the SPJST Nursing Home in Taylor, Texas, retiring after twenty-two years.

On August 18, 1982, John was united in Holy Matrimony to Johnnie Mae Deary and this union was blessed with three girls. Tarmara in 1994 was the first born, followed by Shannikha, then, Vickie.  John often spoke how bless he was to have girls, instead of boys, because he knew that he would spoiled them and they would take care of him in that rightful age.

John enjoyed hanging out with family and friend, picking up a good conversation about ‘them Boys’.  Yes, John was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan, win or lose. John enjoyed listening to the blues even when Dallas brought home the ‘W’.  John’s favorite pass time was spoiling his wife and girls, and allowing the grandchildren special treats, especially the grandsons.

On Saturday, December 14, 2019, this God fearing man, at the age of 72, John lost his eighteen months battle of sickness and God assured him, that He is waiting at the gates. John is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Leslie, Jr., Leon, and Joe; four sisters, Hattie Randle, Pauline White, Doris Guy and Pearlie Mae Guy.

John will be greatly missed, continued to be loved and appreciated for he loved his family. His precious memories will be cherished by his lovely wife of 52 years, Johnnie Mae Guy of Taylor; his girls, Tarmara, Shannikha and Vickie, four grandchildren, Jaraylan, Michelle, Miracle and Donavon; one sister, Ruby Nell Hubbard, a host of brother and sister –in - laws, an unknown number of cousins and other relatives and friends.
