Jessie Poston, Sr.

Jessie Douglas Poston, age 80, passed away on July 7, 2023, in Austin, Texas.  He was born to Jesse and Ethel Orene Poston on December 14, 1942, in Houston, Texas.  On October 17, 1960, Doug married Jo Ann Reed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Poston; daughter, Kimberly Ann Harvell; granddaughter, Heather Jo Hernandez; and great-grandchild, Lamar Maurice Gibson, Jr.

Doug is survived by his loving children and grandchildren, his three children, Brenda and her husband Ruben Hernandez; Jessie Poston and his wife Felicia; and Lisa Martinez; his grandchildren, Brandy, Nicole, Shaun, Stacy, Travis, and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Damien, Haley, Cierra, Abbie, Dillon, Cara, Vanessa, Lily, Britten, Dakota, Kelsey, Aubree, and Cadyn; and extended family and dear friends.  Doug was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be truly missed as he enters his new journey through the Gates of heaven.

Family and Friends will gather at Elgin Funeral Home, Monday, July 10th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  A Celebration of Jessie’s Life will be conducted at Elgin Funeral Home, Tuesday, July 11th at 10:00 AM with the Brother, Irvin McCorkle presiding.  Interment will follow at Lexington Cemetery.
