On December 13, 2012, James Sonny Earl West, 66, answered Gods call and entered eternal life in El Paso, Texas. Sonny was born in Lee County to Early West and Lula Green West on October 12, 1946. He attended Northwest High School in Giddings, Texas and joined the United States Army in 1966, where he served 23 years before retiring as a Staff Sergeant in 1988. After retiring from the military, Sonny became a truck driver for eight years and later became a driving instructor until he fully retired in El Paso, Texas. At an early age, Sonny confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized at Bethel Union Baptist Church in Giddings, Texas. Sonny was preceded in death by both his parents one brother, Leroy West special aunts, Thelma Wyatt and Dora Green and one daughter, Brenda Joyce Anderson.He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Maggie Lois West one daughter, Amy Serene Kenwood West of Houston two sons, Kenneth Earl West of Houston and Anthony LeRoy and wife Norma West of El Paso one brother, Eddie Lee West of Temple little sisters, Jackie, Wanda, Toney, Mattie, and Vergie special friend, Shirley Lewis of El Paso seven grandchildren ten greatgrandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. A Home Going Celebration will be conducted at the Bateman Center in Giddings at 10:00 AM Friday, December 21st with the Reverend Johnnie Green officiating. Interment is scheduled at 2:00 PM Friday, December 21st at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
