James Peterson

January 18, 1975 — January 5, 2022

Bastrop, Texas

To those who knew and loved James Edward Peterson, he was just simply JuneBug. He was born on January 18, 1975, in Bastrop, Texas to Willie Ruth Hodge. James attended the Safford Unified School District and graduated from Safford High School in 1993.

“A Time To Plant”

Growing up with a strong Christian foundation, JuneBug was baptized at an early age at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, by Reverend L. J. Thorne, Pastor in Cedar Creek, Texas. He renewed his relationship with Christ as an adult and was a member until his death, exemplifying what it meant to be a God-fearing man.

“A Time To Play”

James had a comical personality.  James enjoyed and loved his family and friends, always lightening up a room with his big smile.  James also loved to cook as he had a love for food and was always ready to eat.  As his best friend and first cousin, Victor Veal would say, “He lived and enjoyed his life to the fullest and there will never be another one like him.”   He was truly a people person.

“A Time To Die”

JuneBug led an active and fulfilling life for this legacy was for only forty – six years, it was priceless. JuneBug is preceded in death by his grandparents James “Bubba” and Rosetta Hodge, Grandparents, Alcie Peterson, Sr. and Mother Dorothy Peterson and Grandmother, Cora Alexander.

“A Time To Celebrate”

JuneBug leaves to cherish his precious memories his five children: Allyssa, Michael, Justyce, Jade, and Ciara; his parents: Bill and Willie Ruth Peterson, his sisters: Shawanna (Nathan) Patterson and Andrea Peterson; his Godparents, Marvin Lee Haywood, Jr. and Cora Jones; his grandfather, Frank Samuel Alexander, Sr. and a host of aunt, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a numerous number of friends.

James or JuneBug if you prefer, will live on in his beautiful family and friends’ heart…
