Jack went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the age of 89. He was born on October 4, 1934, to Alva Jack and Mary Ann (Thompson) Wilson on the farm which has been a part of the Wilson family line since 1841.
Jack had been a lifelong member of Central Christian Church of Elgin, where he was Baptized in 1950. He started school at Young’s Prairie and transferred to the Elgin school system where he graduated in 1953. He met Jo Ann Craig in fourth grade in Elgin and were friends until High School graduation. They met by chance again in 1985 and were married on May 3, 2003.
He joined the Army in 1957 and received an Honorable Discharge on August 31, 1963.
He was proceeded in his death by his wife of 18 years, Jo Ann Craig Balch Wilson; stepson, Mike Balch; both his parents; brother, Kenneth Bethea; and two sisters, Lenora Marie and Wilma Faye.
Jack is survived by 3 nephews, Richard Wilson and wife Kim of Pflugerville, Mike Wilson and wife Janet of Elgin, Kevin Wilson of Cameron; niece, Kay Frietas and husband Kaena of Pflugerville; stepdaughter, Amy Balch Nall and husband Carl of Austin; stepson, Steve Balch of Elgin; step granddaughter, Brianna Blaine of Elgin and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private Graveside Service will be held at Elgin Cemetery to Celebrate Jack's Liffe with Pastor Kevin Haywood presiding. Military Honors will be rendered by the Bastrop Honor Guard.
