Jack Winfred Tingle, 96, of Taylor, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 1, 2023. Jack was born in Elgin, on November 16, 1926, to Grace Stanfield Tingle and John Earl Tingle, Sr. He grew up and attended school in Elgin. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Merchant Marines, then transferred to the U.S. Airforce. Jack was honorably discharged and began a 30 plus year career with Texas Department of Public Safety as a Radar Specialist. After retiring from D.P.S., he found his way back on ship, where he worked for Exxon and later Texaco as a radio officer. While working for D.P.S., he fell in love with a nursing student, Carolyn Bowen and the two were married on May 19, 1951. In his spare time, he loved to deer hunt, fish, and watch football.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of almost 72 years, Carolyn; both his parents; his brother, John Earl Tingle, Jr.; and his son-in-law, Ron Krupa.
Jack is survived by his only daughter, Helen Krupa; his nephew and three nieces, Phil Tingle and wife Leslie, Jackie and her husband Bob Stagg, Debby Tingle, and Terry Tingle Armstrong; and numerous extended family and dear friends.
Serving with Grace and Honor as Pallbearers: Mike Caplinger, Terry Roberts, Jack Johnson, Keith Mayes, Jimmy Cheatham, and Albert Liles.
Family and Friends will gather for Visitation, at Elgin Funeral Home, Sunday, January 8th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at First Baptist Church of Taylor, Monday, January 9th at 2:00 PM with Dr. Brady Collier, Pastor presiding. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Youngs Prairie Cemetery.
