Irene HelgrenOn Wednesday, March 5, 2014, Frances Irene Kaiser Martha Helgren left our earthly world to ascend to Heaven. Irene was born on October 21, 1923 to Alvin Christian Carl and Elsie Augusta Helena Prinz Kaiser.Irene was known to many through her work at the Elgin SPJST Lodge 118. She greeted all who came through the doors. She enjoyed working with people renting the hall for celebrations and special occasions. She loved listening to all the bands and dancing to the polka bands. Irene felt blessed to have large circle of friends gained through these celebrations. Irene also worked in the cafeteria services at Elgin ISD for 25years. She ended her career as the lunchroom manager at Elgin Primary School. Irenes true love was her family. She married Oscar Helgren at Coupland Church on October 21, 1944. She was blessed with the birth of her only son, Randy 13 years later. Her love extended to Andrea, Matt and Cody as they entered into her family. Each of the grandsons were loved, spoiled, and cared for by her in their younger years. She loved attending their activities as they got older. She never failed to look for their name on the honor rolls printed in the paper. They were her joy.Irene was preceded in death by her spouse, Oscar, her parents, and her brother Melvin Kaiser.She is survived by her son Randy Helgren and his wife Andrea of Elgin grandsons, Matthew Helgren and Cody Helgren of Elgin.
