Hubert William Washington was born to Carrie Lee Washington - Kirby & Lloyd Washington, Sr. on July 6, 1957. Raised in Taylor, Texas, Hubert spent majority of his early days creating memories with siblings, listening to his favorite music, and being involved in athletic sports. In his later years, Hubert served his country in the Army and became a father, enjoying time with his children.
Hubert was preceded in death by his mother (Carrie “Mudear” Washington-Kirby), father (Lloyd Washington, Sr.), grandparents (Martha “Big Mama” Milligan-Nears & Felix Milligan), three brothers (Wilbert, Wilford & Patrick Washington) and eldest nephew (Bruce Washington, Sr.).
Hubert is survived by his three children: Hubert “Lil Hubert” Franklin, Teresa Hill & Winzell Washington; and his significant other and caretaker of 20+ years: Ruby Williams. All of whom will continue to uphold his legacy of family and love.
Hubert leaves to cherish his fondest and earliest memories with his siblings: five brothers; his fraternal twin, Herbert Washington (Judy), Lloyd “Fat Teddy” Washington, Jr. (Angel), Ronald “Ronnie” Washington, Calvin “Nookie” Washington, Sr. (Deborah) & Blake Washington. As well as sisters: Walma Dean “Dennie” Mosley, Marie “Sissie” Howard (Chris) & embraced sister, Carrie “Goodie” Williams (Brandon).
In his life, Hubert was blessed to have had grandchildren (including Aniyah Franklin). Hubert was a favorite among many cousins and friends; also, a loving uncle who was blessed to have seen up to the 3rd generation of his nieces and nephews. Hubert will forever be remembered by his loved ones for his comedy, fun personality, family-oriented spirit, impressionable memories, and many stories of laughter.
Hubert William Washington, 64, of Austin, Texas, passed away, Tuesday, July 27, 2021. He will lie in state at Elgin Funeral Home, Tuesday, August 3rd from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A Home-Going Celebration will be conducted at Elgin Funeral Home, Tuesday, August 3rd at 7:00 PM with Pastor Edward M. Fleming, Sr., presiding. Inurnment will be private.
