“A Time To Be Born”
Harold Tanksley was born in Taylor, Texas on February 21, 1954, at 3:30 AM, to Houston and Annie Mae Tanksley. At a young age, Harold accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Taylor, Texas.
“A Time To Plant”
Harold attended O. L. Price School in Taylor, as part of segregation in 1969, he entered Taylor High School and graduated in 1971. He was known as a strong man who enjoyed life, and his family especially his grandkids, who deeply loved him. His radiant smile could light up any room he stepped into. Harold touched so many people and families that he came in contact with.
“A Time to Work and Play”
Harold joined the United States Army in 1971, completing a full tour duty as a Block 25 Welder. In 1973, Harold was injured and was given an Honorable Discharge. Harold had numerous jobs such as Welding, Roofing, Daycare Worker, and many other jobs, which earned him the name of “a jack of all trades”. On March 15, 1990, Harold was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Beverly Morgan. This union blended two families into one.
“A Time To Die”
On the early morning of April 2, 2025, at 12:12 AM at Ascension Seton Medical Center, Harold’s earthly journey was complete with his wife, Beverly, daughter, Glorious, and Grandson, Ryan at his bedside.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Annie Mae Tanksley, daughter, Natasha Tanksley, three sisters: Sarah Blackwell, Ora Vincent, and Emma Logan; four brothers: A.B Blackwell, Troy Tanksley, Monroe Blackwell, and James H. Blackwell; brother-in-laws: Reverend Eddie R. Tealer Sr. and Loe Logan; and one grandson: Kenan Vincent.
“A Time To Weep”
Left to cherish Harold’s Legacy are his wife, Beverly Tanksley of Elgin; three sons;, Lincoln Tanksley, of Keller, Texas, De’Randy Morgan and his wife, Tamika of Lancaster, California, and AJ Tanksley, five daughters: Twanna Williams and Glorious Franklin both of Elgin, Constance Franklin of Austin, Texas, Special Granddaughter, whom Harold raised as a daughter: Sha’Qualla “Nune” Franklin of Brownsville, Texas, Felicia Tanksley, of Manor, Texas, and Tina Marie; one bonus daughter: Diana Villalobos, of Smithville, Texas, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister: Ruby Tealer of Taylor, Texas, Mother in law, Janie McFarlin of Bastrop. His in-laws included the McFarlin and Monroe families. His special sisters: Earlene, Nadine, Christine, LaReda, Denice, Evelyn, and Freda; special cousin: Brenda Benford. Harold also leaves his four-legged daughter (cat), Sweetie; and a host of extended family and friends.
Harold’s spirit and loving nature will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
