Grady Baker

Grady Samuel Sam Baker, 70 years of age, passed away January 21, 2013. Sam was born in San Angelo, Texas to William Garland Baker and Theresa Mildred Miller on January 21, 1943. He served his country proudly and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1966. After his discharge from the Navy, he began work for Otis Engineering in the oil field business. Sam lived in many parts of the world during his oil career and retired from Otis in 1993. His retirement from Otis was short lived he began working for Austin Capital Metro before finally retiring in 2009, and settling in the Austin, Texas area. Sam loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, son, Brian Baker and brother, William Dub Baker.Sam is survived by his wife of 42 years, Stephanie his three daughters Debra and husband Don Sigler and Charlsie and husband Wendell Kendrick, and Kimberly and husband John Barth, one son, Sevan Baker and girlfriend Jennifer Sheesley the familys adopted daughter, Sonia Williams one brother, Crockett Baker two sisters, Mary Randal and Barbara Hill seven grandchildren, Courtney Baker, Brian Lambert, Chris Lambert, Avery Lambert, Kelly Kendrick, Kara Barth, and Dylan Barth and many greatgrandchildren, nieces, and nephews.The family received friends and guests at the Elgin Funeral Home from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM Thursday, January 24th. Inurnment will be private.
